What makes a movement strong is staying true to the mission and goals. As the Project launched we were charged with gathering with our neighbors around our kitchen tables. Remember who we were on 9/12/2001? Americans stood together in their grief not caring about the color of your skin, your political affiliation, or the religion you practice. Could we be those people again? Many groups formed dedicated to working on connecting with their community to focus on what they saw as the issues that needed attention. In overwhelming numbers, individuals and groups identifying themselves as 912er’s, got interested in local political issues. This does not make our organization a political movement; it just means that folks decided this is how they wanted to connect with their community. Many of these individuals had never been active in city council meetings, Board of Education hearings or town hall events. Our members educated themselves on the processes put in place, the Constitution and what our Founding Fathers laid out for us in the development of our great Country.

Our mission from day one has been to educate ourselves, give back through service and show others through our Principles and Values that America is still the greatest Nation. Groups such as the Central NY 912ers’ have embraced education; the Florida group lead by Shannon Armstrong from South Florida 912 carries out service projects that will warm your heart. The Southtown 912 group out of Chicago, does outreach to our military, the Pittsburgh 912 group focuses on informing their community on the Progressive movement, and Cedar Park Texas 912 works on Preparedness efforts. These are just a small example of what our groups are doing 3 years later!

Many individuals identify themselves as 912ers without being active in a structured group. Formed groups have merged with other movements to concentrate on politics at a higher level and groups have split to carry out the mission that they see as the important issues. This is what grassroots is all about. Local involvement at its best! You have taken on the tasks of deciding what needs to be done in your community not waiting around for someone to tell you what is important in your community. You decided and will continue too many years from now. This is the power of grassroots. “We the people” has never been more meaningful to individuals who up until 3 years ago hadn’t given that phrase much of a thought.

People have suggested to me that the 912 project is irrelevant. Could you imagine? The groups that have stayed focused, on message and dedicated to the mission are as relevant as any group out there. These are the groups that we will still be talking about when we celebrate our 10 year mark. Changing one community at a time. Thank you for your dedication. This is your movement, your Project. You are the people.

by Paul Dopp

The 9.12 Project started a little over two years ago.
Is it what you hoped it would be? Where do you see it in 10 years, 20 years? What can you gain from participating in the 9.12 Project?

I’m not sure the 9.12 Project is what I hoped it would be, but I am sure that it is what it is supposed to be.

People came to our first meeting with a multitude of fears, hopes and agendas. All of us felt that where the country was headed just didn’t seem right. Actually we were positive what we saw was wrong, but many could not articulate precisely why. Like a road map that has had coffee spilled on it, the lines were fuzzy and the destinations blurred. We were appalled by where were we going and angered that our political “leaders” brushed us aside as rubes for daring to ask how their direction jived with the map.

And then came a voice that proclaimed with simple clarity. The old maps of governance are still with us! Their directions are clear! We CAN understand them if we understand the principles and values that guided the Founders.

So we came together. Some were hoping for a political outlet to replace one or both the main political parties that have long since abandoned fiscal sanity and founding principles. Some were spoiling for a fight but not quite sure how to engage the oppressor. Many were frustrated with their own ignorance. They needed to know what was right. They worried about how to press the politicos to do the right thing after they got a handle on it themselves. Almost everyone was scared. Our words and actions were governed by a gnawing fear that it might be too late. Had the government of, by and for the people perished while we slept? Were we already doomed to tyranny?

That was 2 years ago. The protesters and short-fused have left. The fearful have gone back underground. Of course as individuals we may go protest the current ills and outrages, but as a group we have chosen to fight the greatest enemy of our freedom: the ignorance of our fellow citizens.

So what can one gain from involvement with a 9.12 group today? Enlightenment. You cannot do that which is right unless you KNOW what is right. You cannot lead a people unless you know to where you are going. Participation in a 9.12 effort will expose you to great books, great ideas and a safe venue to discuss, argue, and hopefully fully apprehend the gift that this country is supposed to be. And if you are as fortunate as I, you will find a very expanded circle of associates and more importantly friends. People with whom you share a common passion, and eventually, trust. You find yourself willing to sacrifice with and for people who would never be in your “natural” circle of friends. Why? Because you know and respect what they believe. These are the kind of associations Benjamin Franklin sought in his efforts to maximize his future, and we are doing the same in hopes of securing the future of our country.

Where will we be in the coming decades? I cannot say. What I hope is that we will fade away because the country will have righted its course. I hope that a revival across the land will bring these truths back into the sphere of normal education. And with the truth known and protected perhaps future generations will remember us like the Sons of Liberty – commemorated but no longer necessary. But until that day, we read, we learn, we proclaim. And we make some of the best friendships a human being can know as we rebuild our country’s foundation.

The Connecticut 9/12 Project launched a gift card drive to benefit our neighbors who are affected by the tornado that ripped through Springfield, Massachusetts. Donna Rinaldi, of the 9/12 Project in Massachusetts, suggested that we connect with the Springfield Rescue Mission, which has been very active in helping victims who lost their homes. They have been providing shelter, food and other necessaries as people try to figure out how to rebuild their lives. The Mission suggested that the best way for us to help might be to send gift cards. This will allow them to purchase items they need locally to help them continue to provide for victims staying at the mission, as well as allowing them to give the cards to the victims to help them get items they need.

Please send the gift cards to: Springfield Rescue Mission, 19 Bliss Street, Springfield, MA 01102-9045.

Please consider including a note of support letting them know that their friends from the 9/12 Project in Connecticut are praying for them.

As a nation based on Judeo-Christian values, America literally owes her existence to Israel. As we learned from reading The 5,000 Year Leap, the very structure of our government came from Moses.

The North Pinellas 9/12 Project invites members from all other Tampa Bay 9/12 and Tea Party groups to join us for a rally to voice our support for Israel. We also hope that other groups will plan simultaneous “Support Israel” events in their communities.

When: May 13th at 4:30pm
Since the Jewish Sabbath begins Friday at sundown, we will begin the event at 4:30pm on Friday, May 13 to catch the goin’-home traffic. We plan to rally until at least 6:00pm since Sabbath candle lighting begins approximately at 7:53pm.

Location: 30387 U.S. 19, Clearwater, FL 33761

Please help us focus this event. This will be a single-issue event. There will be NO other political signs allowed. This event will focus only on expressing support for Israel.

Suggested verbiage is as follows:

“Support Israel!”

“I support Israel!”

“We support Israel!”

“North Pinellas 9/12 supports Israel!”

We hope you will join us, or schedule a rally in your area!

May 2, 2011 – “Our armed forces and intelligence services performed magnificently, and all Americans can be proud of the brave men and women who undertook the extremely dangerous mission to kill terrorist leader Osama bin Laden,” stated Yvonne Donnelly, Advisory Board Chair. “Our national leaders – including President Obama and former President Bush – deserve credit for their unwavering commitment to pursuing terrorists rather than waiting for them to attack us again. Members of the 9/12 Project salute everyone involved in this successful mission.”

“The world is a safer place without this unspeakably evil individual,” Donnelly continued. “Our appreciation of his being brought to earthly justice is tempered by the sobering reminder of the horrific suffering of his victims and their families.”

“We hope and pray that bin Laden’s death will also help to restore the national unity that we saw immediately following the events of 9/11. Those events inspired the creation of The 9/12 Project. The death of bin Laden will not end the threat to the fundamental values that underpin our way of life. The battle against those who seek to destroy our most cherished values of individual liberty and individual rights must continue as long as the threat remains. National unity in support of our values will continue to be our first line of defense. Even as we celebrate the success of this mission and the closure it brings to the families of victims of the 9/11 attacks, we must not let ourselves be driven by the hatred that characterizes our enemies. We must channel our efforts in support of the positive values that make America so exceptional,” Donnelly concluded.

The US Constitution guarantees the right to private property and restricts the government from taking that property without just compensation under the laws of eminent domain. Yet that right is being eroded every day by local and regional governments under the guise of such nice sounding words as “sustainable development”, “smart growth”, “new urbanization”. Other code words for this effort include: “comprehensive planning”, “bike lanes-hiking trails”, “open space preserves”, “wetlands, wildlands, biodiversity”, “public/private partnerships”, “high speed rail-light rail, etc”. This is especially true in California which has the highest concentration of cities and regional authorities that have signed up to implement these policies. When combined with policies for reducing carbon emissions in order to stop Global Warming, there is a concerted effort by our government at all levels to severely restrict where you can live, what you can do with your property, and how you get around. The ultimate objective is to put people in urban corridors and encourage the use of public transportation.

Realizing that this is a trend, not just in California, but across the country, SFBay 912 decided to research the issues involved, develop a program to educate ourselves and other conservative groups about the issues, and reach out to other groups around the country to pool our knowledge and become more effective at stopping this march to collectivism. What we found is that there is a template that city, country, and regional government entities are following. This template was implemented by organizations signing up with ICLEI, International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives, and is encouraged and funded through the UN and other NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations). Their intentions are clearly laid out in the following quote:

“Land cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes. The provision of decent dwellings and healthy conditions for the people can only be achieved if land is used in the interest of society as a whole.”

Source: United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat I),Vancouver, BC, May 31 – June 11, 1976. Preamble to Agenda Item 10 of the Conference Report.

Compare and contrast that to this quote by James Madison:

“Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well as that which lies in the various rights of individuals…. this being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures, to every man, whatever is his own.”

SFBay 912 had developed a slide presentation that we take to groups around the Bay Area. We can also provide this presentation as a webinar to groups around the country. We encourage 912ers to monitor their local city councils and look for code words like “sustainable development” and “smart growth”. If these terms come up, it is important to educate yourself and try to stop these initiatives. To find out if your city has signed up for ICLEI, go to:

http://www.icleiusa.org/about-iclei/about-iclei/members/member-list . To find out if your region is signed up for ICLEI, go to: http://www.icleiusa.org/about-iclei/iclei-by_region/. If your city or region has not signed up, don’t relax. There is a lot of stimulus money flooding in to local governments to fund such projects so be vigilant.

For a good introductory book on the topic check out this booklet: “Understanding Sustainable Development – Agenda 21 -For the People and their Public Officials” which you can find at http://www.freedomadvocates.org/store/featured_product%21/

Talk to your local officials. Many would be surprised and appalled at the true agenda behind the pretty words which is the severe restriction of private property rights.

If you would like some assistance from SFBay 912, please go to our meetup site ( www.meetup.com/sfbay912 ) and email the coordinator. Put “Agenda 21” in the title.

Thousands of wounded warriors have returned home to the United States and Kentucky after fighting for our liberties around the world. Surviving the war is only half the battle for these brave men and women. Many have a great need for rehabilitation and they need to continue to heal physically, psychologically, and socially after they come home. Team River Runner (TRR) provides this rehabilitation.

We encourage all 9/12ers to attend this TRR event! There will be food, music, a slide show, and a chance to meet local members and volunteers.

Team River Runner (TRR) is a partner of Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA) and Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project.

Team River Runner (TRR), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, gives active duty service members and veterans an opportunity to find health, healing, and new challenges through whitewater boating and other paddling sports. The benefits of TRR have as much to do with creating a social network and support system as they do with learning water sports skills that provide an exciting adventure lifestyle that suddenly seemed lost due to injury. The program also encourages family members to participate whenever possible.

Dear 912ers,

No one in DC seems capable of stopping the hemorrhaging known as Federal Spending. Every year Republicans and Democrats spend billions of dollars they don’t have, driving America deeper and deeper into debt. This year, the Congressional Budget Office says the Feds will overspend by $1.5 Trillion and be over $8 billion dollars in debt by the end of the year. This equates to over $44,000 of debt for every man, woman and child.

We the People say ENOUGH!

If the boys and girls of the beltway can’t remember how to balance a checkbook, it’s time for regular Americans to show them how it’s done.

The 912 Project has joined with As A Mom, Declaration Alliance and Unite in Action for The Great American Budget Bash.

We are asking every man, woman and child to help SLASH THE BUDGET!

We have posted the proposed 2012/2013 Federal Budget. Now we ask you to select a section of the budget and find something to cut! It’s easy – just use the link to access the 2012 Federal Budget and start slashing!

http://www.uniteinaction.org/ActionItems/GreatAmericanBudgetBash.aspx

Post what you find on the easy to use web form and we will send the results to Washington. You may also add comments in the comment field – use common sense and clean language or we’ll send Grandma over with a bar of soap

Let The Great American Budget Bash Begin!

Gob bless,

STATEMENT BY YVONNE DONNELLY
NATIONAL CHAIR OF THE PROJECT 9-12 ADVISORY BOARD

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of Judge John Roll, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, and all of the victims of the senseless attack that took place in Tucson on Saturday,” said Yvonne Donnelly, national chair of The 9/12 Project Advisory Board.

“This horrific incident is a reminder that the most fundamental values of a free society are both precious and fragile. The acts of a lone and apparently deranged individual have prompted calls for drastic changes in the way that citizens and their elected representatives conduct the dialog that is so essential to a free society. We must take reasonable and prudent steps that will ensure the safety of those who engage in this dialog, but we must do so in a manner that preserves and enhances the basic tenets of our free society.”

“Just as the brave individuals who tackled and restrained the Tucson gunman, and the Congresswoman’s aide who gave life-saving first aid until law enforcement and emergency personnel arrived, citizens should be prepared to help in emergencies as they are able. Local 9/12 Project groups will continue to provide emergency preparedness training. In addition, the national Advisory Board is drafting more information on event safety awareness and preparedness for citizens, which will be posted here shortly.
